  • For Edisto Habitat for Humanity, home is the key to stability. Too many of our residents pay more than half of their income on rent, forcing families to choose between childcare, food, transportation, healthcare, and other necessities. Safe and secure housing is crucial for a strong and vibrant community.

Your support for our mission is more critical than ever. As housing costs continue to rise and financial uncertainties grow, we rely on your investment to sustain our programs, including our homeownership Program, Ramp/Repair Program, Disaster Awareness, Preparedness, Recovery/Repair Program, Financial Education, and Job Skills at our Edisto Habitat Homestore.

Within the past year, your support has allowed us to:
    • Piloted a new “Cozy Home” design, our take on the tiny home concept, to better meet the needs of our Habitat homeowners while helping us streamline operations.
    • Completed over 20 critical Brush for Kindness ramp builds for seniors, veterans, and neighbors with disabilities, thereby restoring safe entry and exit to their homes, reducing fall risks, supporting aging in place, and allowing families to remain independent with dignity. We have now completed over 80 ramps in less than three years.
    • Celebrated the groundbreaking of our 100th Home Block and began construction on our 100th home, the first of six affordable homes that will continue to create stable pathways to homeownership for hardworking families through sweat equity, affordable mortgages, and financial education.
    • We are in the process of repairing six homes damaged by Hurricane Helene in our area, including Bamberg, to address roof damage, structural issues, water intrusion, and critical safety concerns, a drastic expansion of our disaster relief and recovery programs.

In Support of Edisto Habitat for Humanity
Edisto Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone should have a safe, healthy, and affordable place to call home.

We work with families to build and improve places to call home. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. Our purpose is to bring people together to build homes, foster community, and create opportunities for growth.

We partner with volunteers, donors, local businesses, corporations, sponsors, faith-based communities, partner organizations, in-kind donors, educational institutions, foundations, and grant providers to build the capacity to address the substandard housing conditions that many people in our community face.

Everyone deserves a home.
Edisto Habitat for Humanity's Homeownership Program is for low-to-moderate-income families who cannot qualify for a conventional home loan. Families accepted into the program must earn hundreds of hours of "sweat equity" by building the homes of other Habitat Partner Families. Once the home is complete, Edisto Habitat for Humanity sells them to the Habitat Family Partner at a zero to low interest mortgage. The homes we build are not just simple and decent but also highly affordable, thanks to our donors, volunteers, and interest-free mortgages.
